Supporting Partners in the Birthing Process: A Guide for Dads
Champion of Comfort
Labor can be intense, and your partner might need a cheerleader. Dads don’t have to be left out of the process. You can be there with words of encouragement, remind her of her strength, and offer gentle massages (focusing on her back, shoulders, and feet). Ask if she wants a cool cloth for her forehead or some aromatherapy oil to diffuse into the room. Communication is key!
Remember, You're a Team
You’re also in this together, and you are your partner’s voice when she’s in her most difficult stages of labor. Dads can get familiar with the birth plan, and if any decisions need to be made, gently remind the medical staff of mom’s wishes.
Also, don't be afraid to ask for help! The nurses and midwives are there to offer guidance, answer your questions, and ensure everything runs smoothly.
